How to get started

The key to good results is to document the damage, and
where it has not been noticed or covered previously to
submit this documentation in the form of a supplement request.

So you would either scan and email or fax this information to us
so we can help you get the most from your claim.

Usually it consists of:

1) If available the adjusters estimate.
2) A roof diagram or measurements on other damage
such as walls, ceilings etc where incorrect or not already
available.
3) A contract giving permission to speak with the Insurance
company on behalf of the Policyholder.
4) A list of any damage which the salesman or company
representative wants covered in a supplement request or
pricing disagreements.
5) Pictures documenting damage to the property and especially
damage not already covered. Some example pictures are
shown on ICSs' blog in our other posts.
6) Any bids submitted to the General Contractor or contractor
for the work where Xactimate pricing does not adequately cover
getting the damaged property restored. This can include as needed
anything in the scope of loss, or wanting to be supplemented.

Occasionally a particular storm highlights certain problems
that are not common. An example would be in Phoenix where
Air Conditioners are on roofs and without (mostly) hail guards.
XM8 pricing does not cover the usual cost for replacing most
of these units and many times combing these is inadequate
due to the extreme heat. So bids and often technical reports
have to be included. In Denver many roofs are decked with
off code decking including badly spaced 1x8" planks. etc.
So sometimes local conditions must be highlighted in the
submissions to us, and to help the desk adjuster get the
supplements approved from his supervisors.

Finally it is not mandatory to include all of this information
where it is not available or would require more cost collecting
than it may be worth.

Disputes about pitch and measurements are usually settled
using satellite measurements. Where these also are suspect
it can always still be requested to meet another adjuster
on the property. Meeting an adjuster and agreeing to
most such things where they can be agreed to at the first
adjuster meeting is ideal.
